In Local (Private) mode, no — everything runs inside your browser and the image never leaves your device. In Cloud (HD) mode the image is sent to our edge endpoint, processed, and deleted within seconds; it is never stored or used for anything else.
JPG, PNG and WebP up to 20MB per image. Results download as PNG with an alpha (transparent) channel. Very large photos may take longer in local mode on older phones.

Use Cloud (HD) mode for the finest edges: it runs a state-of-the-art segmentation model (BiRefNet) that handles flyaway hair, pet fur, glass and thin chains far better than lightweight on-device models. Local mode is a little softer on those cases but fully private.
removebg.best claims no rights over your output — the processed image is yours. You are responsible for having the rights to the original photo (your own product, a licensed image, etc.).

An AI segmentation model looks at the whole photo and decides, pixel by pixel, what belongs to the foreground subject and what is background. It then produces a soft alpha outline (a "matte") that keeps fine detail like hair and semi-transparent edges. You get the same result a designer would produce with hours of manual masking — in a few seconds.
Yes — the transparent PNG you download keeps the pixel size of the photo you put in. No downsizing and no watermark. Extremely large photos can take a little longer to process, but the output dimensions stay the same.
Yes. Cut out your product, switch the background to pure white and export the square — that covers the main-image rules of the big marketplaces (for example Amazon expects a pure-white main photo, with 1600×1600px or larger recommended so buyers can zoom). For a whole catalogue, use the Bulk Remover and download everything as a ZIP.
Upload the image and let the background go transparent, then download the PNG. Always keep the result as PNG — JPEG cannot store transparency, so saving as JPG would fill the background back in. For signatures, a photo of the pen drawing on plain white paper works especially well.
Yes, for the background part: replacing a busy background with the plain white or off-white that ID photos require is exactly what the tool does best. Note that official applications also care about crop size, head height and expression, which vary by country — take the photo following your authority's guide, clean the background here, then crop to the official template.
No. In Local mode your photo is never uploaded at all. In Cloud mode it is processed at the edge and deleted within seconds. Your images are not kept, not reviewed and not used for training or any other purpose.
The first run downloads the AI model into your browser (a few tens of MB), after which it is cached. From the second image onwards processing runs on your own device — and it even keeps working offline. If you are on a slow connection, Cloud mode gives an instant first result.
All modern browsers: Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox and Opera, on desktop and mobile — including WeChat and in-app webviews. Local mode needs a browser with WebAssembly support (every browser released in the last five years qualifies); Cloud mode works anywhere.
